(A) In the Fields of Water Treatment

In the fields of water treatment, customers have to change from the factory waste fluids to "waste-able" water by adding acid and alkali. They are looking for a tubing or hose which stands proof against various kinds of acid and alkali. This tubing or hose is usually intended for:

  • A Transfer of Neutralizing Fluids in Wastewater
  • A Tubing or Hose for Chemical Pump
  • A Tubing or Hose for Acid and Alkali-Based Chemicals

Customers are looking for the hose which will not be hardened after transferring chemicals. Customers are also looking for the hose which shows resistance against acid and alkali. HAKKO KY TUBE [E-KYT], KY SUNFOODS HOSE [E-KYS], KY COIL HOSE [E-KYC] and KY SOFT BRAID HOSE [E-OHB] are suitable for wastewater processing, factory wastes, chemical pump use, chemical factories and so on.

Three Points

1. Less Likely to be Hardened

Compared with a PVC Hose, HAKKO KY Hose Series are less likely to be hardened.

2. Chemical Resistance

Although compared with Flexible Fluorine Resin Hose Series, chemical resistance of HAKKO KY Hose Series is inferior. However, since the inner layer of HAKKO KY Hose Series is made of Olefin, it shows moderate chemical resistance. The following is the summary table from Chemical Resistance Data.

However, for some chemicals (such as Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid and Sulfuric Acid), HAKKO KY Series are better than HAKKO Flexible Fluorine Resin Hose Series. This is because these chemicals are highly volatile, affecting the outer layer. Since Styrene (the Outer Layer of HAKKO KY Series) is better than Polyurethane (the Outer Layer of HAKKO Flexible Fluorine Resin Hose Series), we recommend HAKKO KY Series for some chemicals. (Please note that depending on the temperature and concentration of fluids, HAKKO KY Series cannot stand.)

3. Many Adoption Examples to Alcohol-Related Customers

HAKKO KY Hose Series, especially E-KYS: KY SUNFOODS HOSE, have been adopted by many alcohol-related customers such as alcohol, hand sanitizer gel manufacturing and antiseptic solution manufacturing factories. In fact, alcohol is used for many applications such as aerosol and detergents.

Factory A, manufacturing alcohol gel, has been using PVC hoses to fill in the cooling gel. However, the black mold appeared on the final product, and Factory A was investigating why this happened. It turned out that the black mold came from the plasticizer which PVC hoses have. HAKKO recommended E-KYS: KY SUNFOOODS HOSE, which does not have any plasticizer. Even after 6 months' trial, there was no black mold on the final product. As a result, Factory A decided to adopt E-KYS: KY SUNFOODS HOSE for all pipes for cooling gel.
